We're Looking for a Dynamic Song Leader!
Uptown Voices is a community singing group in Waterloo, Ontario. We’re folks who love to sing for fun in a relaxed, non-religious environment.
Our mission is to include everyone who wants to sing – no auditions, no need to read music, no performances. We currently have over 70 members!
We’re looking for a Song Leader who…
- Enjoys working supportively with people at all musical levels and is interested in building community through music.
- Is an experienced community music teacher, or has graduate-level education in community music.
- Knows how to teach using rote teaching principles.
- Can teach (and optimally, arrange) songs with simple harmonies.
- Is interested in collaborating with the co-executive directors and group members to execute our vision. That means teaching songs from many traditions that light us up (easy-to-follow part singing and rounds, folk songs, work songs, chants, etc.).
- Is available for 5 hours of work per week (estimated as 2 hours of program time and 3 hours of compensated prep time), at a competitive rate ($50/hour). There are no admin requirements!
- Is an organized and timely communicator.
- Has a good sense of fun!
Please contact Ann and Natasha at: uptownvoices25@gmail.com with any questions.
